"Mathematics serves as a handmaiden for the explanation
of the quantitative situations in other subjects,
such as economics, physics, navigation,
finance, biology and even the arts."
-- H. F. Fehr
Probability and Statistics is a course that provides a structured introduction to important areas of emphasis in most postsecondary studies of mathematics, science, and business. Given the increased importance of statistics in understanding and evaluating the vast amount of data encountered in everyday life, a strong emphasis is placed on collecting, organizing, analyzing, and interpreting data. In order to assist students with numerical and graphical analysis, the use of advanced technological tools is highly recommended. Resource links include sites that describe how to use graphing calculators and Excel spreadsheets for analysis of data.
